RIA Structural Changes Benefit Members and Industry

MILLERSVILLE, MD, March 19, 2004 – The Restoration Industry Association (RIA) has streamlined its organization structure to more efficiently and effectively meet the needs of its members and the cleaning and restoration industry. The restructuring took place last week at the RIA annual meeting in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Effective immediately, the Association will consist of three Councils: RIA Environmental Council, RIA Restoration Council, and RIA Textile Council. The five institutes that formerly made up the RIA will be folded into the new Councils and will no longer exist.

"This new organization structure has countless benefits," said Ken Adams, newly-elected RIA president. "For starters, it will enable us to speak with a stronger voice, eliminate redundancies in our work, more quickly address front-burner issues, and be more focused in everything that we do. And that only scratches the surface of how this will positively affect our members and the industry."

The actual work of defining the structure of the new Councils will play out over the next few months, according to Adams. It will be completed by the RIA board meeting July 21 to 23, 2004.

"The work that was done in bringing about this new structure set high standards for teamwork, cooperation, and forward thinking," said Adams. "I'm grateful to the RIA board and the many Association leaders who set these important changes in motion and am confident that they'll stay on schedule to finalize their work by mid-year."
