Carpet Repair

"Carpet Repair"
Cleanfax (02/10) Vol. 25, No. 2, Andrews, Steve

To set themselves apart from the competition, as well as expand their businesses and boost revenue, carpet cleaning specialists could add carpet repair to their list of services. While cleaning carpets, they often come in contact with pulled rows in Berber carpet, stains and discolorations, frayed edges, damaged seams, cigarette and iron burns, delamination, and wrinkles and buckles. They could offer carpet repair to existing customers, who already value their expertise and advice, and show how they can save them hundreds or thousands of dollars by repairing -- not replacing -- their carpets. Carpet cleaning specialists need to position themselves as carpet repair experts, and they would be wise to take the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification's Certified Carpet Repair Technician course. Those that have mastered only one type of repair can use this expertise to open doors, then add new repair methods down the road. To enhance their marketing materials, they would be wise to show "before and after" photos to potential clients.
