"'Green' Cleaning Bill Approved by House"

The Iowa House passed a bill that would require schools to perform assessments of environmentally friendly cleaning products. School districts have to begin using the products on July 1, 2012, if they do not opt out of the law. Supporters of the bill note that costs have not risen as a result of a similar law for state offices, which was implemented in 2008. The bill is now up for consideration in the state Senate.
