"More States Require 'Green' Cleaning Products"

Green Seal Inc. says Connecticut, Illinois, New York, and seven other states either require or recommend that schools and government buildings use green floor waxes, window cleaners, and other such products. At least five other states will consider such legislation this year. There are concerns about some bills that specify the products to be purchased and used by schools and agencies, given that some of these products can be pricey and government budgets have been hit hard by the economic downturn. New York schools surveyed by the state after the implementation of a cleaning law in 2005 say costs rose 10 percent as a result.
