President Obama signed into law an extension of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) to March 28. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) said in a statement released March 2 that the delay in the extension meant "short-term problems" for people waiting to close on a property within a Special Flood Hazard Zone. Despite the NFIP's temporary cessation, people with current NFIP policies were still covered by the program, the NAIC said.
