Superbug Resistant to Antibiotics

Superbug Resistant to Antibiotics

In the wake of the H1N1 outbreak last year, scientists have now found a new superbug that may cause yet another outbreak. This strand, identified as NDM-1, has shown a major resistance to antibiotics in lab tests. NDM-1, originally found in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, has reached the United Kingdom after 37 patients returned from Asia following medical procedures. In order to aid in protecting oneself, the British Cleaning Council is reminding everyone that regular hand-washing and surface cleaning are two of the simplest, yet most effective ways to stop the spread of germs.
