2016 Networking and Social Events

At the International Restoration Convention and Industry Expo you will have numerous opportunities to network and socialize with your peers in the industry. See below for a sampling of what the convention has to offer:

Monday, 21 March

4:00 – 5:00 p.m.

New Member and First Time Attendee Reception

Join new RIA members, as well as first time convention attendees, in this special reception where you will learn more about the association and the convention. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with RIA staff and leaders and have any questions answered. Take this time to network with your fellow peers who are new to RIA and the convention. This is an informal reception designed to make new contacts and help you learn more about the organization.

5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Opening Reception

Kick off the 2016 International Restoration Convention and Industry Expo with our Opening Reception. All registered attendees are welcome as we gather to celebrate the start of this year’s Convention. Join your restoration peers as we kick-off the convention with a reception celebrating of RIA’s 70th anniversary and the opening of this year’s convention. All registered convention attendees are welcome.

Tuesday, 22 March

4:30 – 5:30 p.m.

International Industry Networking Session

Are you an international attendee?  Join the RIA Canadian Council and Australian Steering for this hybrid networking and information session focusing on RIA's initiatives and gains in the Canadian and Australian restoration and reconstruction markets. In addition to learning about specific Canadian and Australian issues, attendees will have the opportunity to network with their Canadian Australian peers and expand their business connections.

4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Young Professionals' Mentoring Session

Are you 35 years old or younger?  Then join RIA’s Young Professional Restorers Committees (YPRCs) for a special mentoring and networking event on Tuesday, 22 March at 4:30-5:30 PM.  This roundtable session on “Advice from Industry Veterans” will provide a forum for young professionals to learn from the industry expertise and wisdom of current restoration industry leaders.  This one hour session will consist of three, 20-minute roundtable sessions with the same industry veterans hosting their sessions all three times, allowing you to ask questions of multiple different leaders.  The following industry leaders will host this year’s roundtables:

  • Ken Larsen, CR, WLS, CSDS, Consultant, International Dry Standard Organization
  • Michael Pinto, CSP, CMP, CEO, Wonder Makers Environmental

  • Steve Whittick, CR, VP of Construction Services and Restorative Construction & Mitigation Specialist, ServiceMaster of Markham

RIA 70th Anniversary Celebration and Awards Banquet

You will not want to miss the RIA 70th Anniversary Celebration and Awards Banquet. All full convention attendees are invited to this exciting event. This evening is dedicated to celebrating seventy years of RIA and highlighting the top accomplishments in the restoration industry including our recognition of the Martin L. King Award Winner.  Join us for an evening where we honor the top accomplishments in restoration, recognize the Martin L. King award winner, and celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the largest trade association representing the global restoration industry. 


Thursday, 24 March

RIA Post-Convention Australian Tour

RIA and the Australian Steering Committee invite you to participate in a unique opportunity for Australian attendees of the 71st International Restoration Convention and Industry Expo in Orlando, Florida., 21 – 23 March. On the day after the convention, 24 March, we are offering a half-day tour of some of the top RIA member facilities in the Orlando metropolitan area. This post-convention tour will allow our Australian attendees to get the most out of their convention experience by experiencing first-hand some innovative and popular restoration and cleaning techniques. You will have a chance to speak with employees of the firms you visit to learn more about their successful business. To join us and your fellow Australian attendees on the morning of Thursday, 24 March, please complete our interest form.
