For over three decades, one of the single biggest contributors and innovators in the field of fire and smoke restoration has been Martin L. King, CR. RIA’s early association leaders, working cooperatively with Mr. King, created the Certified Restorer ™ certification program, which has grown to over 600 certificants since its inception in 1980. Following the CR™, the Association created other advanced certifications which complimented the body of knowledge that restoration experts need to know.

To honor Mr. King’s legacy, the ASCR Foundation Board of Trustees (a subsidiary of RIA) created the Martin L. King Scholarship Program. The Foundation’s primary activity will be providing financial assistance to CR Candidates committed to successfully completing the Certified Restorer™ certification program. As the Scholarship Fund develops, similar scholarships will be developed along the same lines – helping restoration industry professionals further their education and improve their skills.

The Restoration Industry Legal Fund (RILF) was established in 2013 to provide direct funding for the RIA to represent its members and the restoration industry.  For more information about the initiatives which RIA has undertaken on behalf of its members and the industry, please click here.
