Advocacy in Action: Building Momentum in Louisiana

At RIA, meaningful advocacy is built through consistent, coordinated action—and we are seeing those efforts take hold.

Several weeks ago, the RIA initiated outreach to State Insurance Commissioners nationwide, opening the door to productive conversations and introducing RIA—and, more importantly, our members—to senior government officials who were previously unfamiliar with our organization and the critical role restoration professionals play in emergency response and recovery.  One of those relationships is already paying dividends.  Following those letters, Louisiana officials reached out, and we have been in communication since then, working to inform them about RIA and emergency restoration and to hear their needs.  Since then, we have continued to engage constructively

This past week, the RIA identified proposed legislation in Louisiana (LA SB 326) that affects our members. Within days, we developed and executed a coordinated strategy—engaging directly with the bill sponsor, activating a targeted grassroots effort among RIA members in our Advocacy Action Hub, and informed the State Insurance Commissioner’s office of our position on the bill. That engagement prompted immediate awareness and broader internal discussion among state leadership.

RIA provided clear, solutions-oriented input—supporting consumer protection while advocating for our members' ability to respond quickly and effectively in times of need.

While work remains, the progress is clear. In a short period, we have established meaningful dialogue and responsiveness—an important step toward ensuring the restoration industry’s expertise is recognized and considered at the state and federal levels in the U.S. and Canada.

This is how effective advocacy happens: thoughtful engagement, clear communication, and consistent follow-through—creating real value for RIA members and elevating your voice in key policy discussions. When we ask for your engagement, your response matters—because we are strongest together.
