EPA's Inspector General to Examine Lead-Paint Rule

In a March 28 letter to two top U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officials responsible for the Lead: Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) rule, the EPA's Office of Inspector General said it wants "to determine whether the EPA has an effective strategy to implement and enforce" the RRP rule. The notice comes as the EPA commences a 90-day extension to propose an update to its standard for lead dust hazards and the regulatory definition of lead-based paint, which is now due June 26.
