We appreciate your interest in serving on the RIA Board of Directors. Candidates with the following qualifications and desired skills and experience will be considered:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be an RIA member in good standing for at least one (1) year

  • Have the ability to defray travel and other expenses necessary for attending meetings*

  • Have the ability to attend Board meetings and conference calls

  • Must complete all application requirements

  • Ideally have experience supporting the RIA

*Non-owners must provide written approval for participation by the current business owner. 

Important: Please note that per the RIA bylaws only one representative per organization can serve on the RIA Board of Directors at the same time.


Desired Skills & Experience
  • Engaged in the restoration and/or reconstruction industry
  • Demonstrated engagement with and commitment to the RIA through active participation including volunteering on an RIA committee or task force and/or assisting with or participation in RIA networking events or conferences
  • Demonstrated support of the RIA’s mission and initiatives
  • Ability to leverage connections and resources to help the RIA advance its strategic plan goals
  • Proven leadership ability

Expectations of RIA Board of Directors
  • Act in the best interests of the RIA and its members
  • Serve as an ambassador for the RIA and enhance the RIA’s public standing
  • Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in four board meetings per year (virtual and in-person**). Additional meetings may be scheduled as necessary.
    **Individuals elected to the RIA Board of Directors are expected to attend the 2025 Convention
  • Participate in or lead a RIA committee and/or task force group as necessary
  • Adhere to and uphold RIA bylaws, articles of incorporation, policies and ethical norms
  • Provide fiduciary and strategic oversight of the association
  • Refrain from actions that may constitute an actual, apparent, or potential conflict of interest with the mission and activities of RIA, and disclose any such conflicts of interest, and any business, financial, personal, and organizational interests and affiliations that are or could be construed to be a conflict of interest
